Once your Poynt Terminal is connected, there are some terminal behaviors that can be configured through talech Register.
Feature | Managed Via | Details |
Customer Signature | talech Register | The “Skip Signature for orders under X” setting in the talech Register will control whether the customer is prompted for a signature on the Poynt terminal. There is already a skip signature setting on the Poynt terminal. This should be disabled to allow the Merchant to always control it through the talech register app. |
Tip Prompt | talech Register & Poynt terminal | talech Register has two customer signature modes: |
Suggested Tip Amount | Poynt terminal | The suggested tip amounts on the Poynt terminal are controlled via the Poynt terminal settings. The talech suggested tip amount setting is only shown and applicable when the merchant selects Sign on Paper as they are printed on the paper receipt |
Customer Receipt | talech Register | The customer receipt screen is always suppressed on the Poynt terminal. This is done to prevent the user from receiving a payment terminal receipt without the order details. |
Settlement
The settlement will first be done on the Register App for each station to close the authorized transactions. You can check transactions to make sure tip amounts are correct from here, too.
On the app, go to Dashboard->Back Office->Settlement and tap “Settle Transactions”. You can look through the list to check transactions and once ready, tap on “Submit”.
Then to complete the settlement, you’ll use the Poynt device’s pre-loaded Poynt Settlement Application. The settlement must be completed for every Poynt device. Before you settle, make sure all tips are adjusted.
From the Poynt's home screen, find the app named Settlements. There will 4 options to choose from. Press Settle. Here you will see your open batch and a button named Settle Open Batch. Once you press this button the settlement will start.
Important Note: Once you Settle your transactions, you will be unable to adjust any tips. Please make sure that all tips have been adjusted before settling your transactions.
Caveats:
If you complete a Store Logout, this will un-pair the reader from talech Register. You will need to repeat the pairing process to reconnect Poynt.
All Poynt terminals in the account must be connected to the same wireless network. Separating the terminals for a single account across networks will result in processing and settlement errors.
Pre-Auth is not supported by the Poynt in semi-integrated use with talech. This will be an added feature in an upcoming version.
For best performance talech recommends using Static IP addresses:
If you are unsure about the settings above or require assistance setting the device to static, please contact your network administrator. If you purchased support from Boomtown you can swipe-in on the Boomtown Connect app on your Poynt terminal for assistance.
